“NUTS ON CLARK” Presents The Art Institute of Chicago

Sure, every city’s got an art museum. But calling The Art Institute of Chicago an art museum would be like calling the Chicago gourmet popcorn of “NUTS ON CLARK” nothing more than microwave popcorn: both statements are absurd!

Here we’ve highlighted everything that makes The Art Institute of Chicago the world renowned institution.

Location
The Art Institute is located in Grant Park, one of the most famous parks in the world. It is home to the famous bean sculpture, seen below, as well as many concerts, art functions and an ice skating rink. The famous Millennium Park is actually part of Grant Park. Located right in downtown Chicago, it’s a moment’s walk from the nearest “L” train.

The museum is located at 111 South Michigan Ave.

Exhibits and Collections
The art pieces in the museum, numbering at more than 260,000, span more than 5,000 years of history. With a wide array of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including more than 30 works Claude Monet, The Art Institute boasts a truly impressive repertoire. Included in some of its more famous paintings are Henri Matisse’s The Bathers, Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks and Grant Wood’s American classic American Gothic.

The Modern Wing
After ten years of work, the 264,000-square-foot building designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano is completed and filled with The Art Institute’s works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The wing makes The Art Institute the second largest art museum in the United States. Boasting the one of the largest and most important collections of art from modern times, the Modern Wing is a must-see new addition to the already awe-inspiring Art Institute.
