Frank Lloyd Wright is arguably the most recognizable name in architecture and design in the United States, and some of his most influential work was created while he lived in the city and suburbs of Chicago.

Wrigley is of course known to baseball fans as the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916. But fewer know that for most of its existence it was a multi-sport facility, acting as home to Chicago’s NFL franchise, the Bears, from the 1920s to the 1970s. It is the oldest ballpark in the National League and the second oldest in use in Major League baseball, behind only Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox in Boston.

Along with gourmet cheese popcorn, a classic staple of Chicago is Cloud Gate, the “bean” statue that resides in Millennium Park. The statue is always surrounded by tourists and long-time Chicagoans alike, and there’s no question why: The sculpture is an artistic and architectural feat, and, to put it more simply, it looks really, really cool.
